So I was on my way down to Le Center this morning to buy some parts a guy had on craigslist.
Down near Le Sueur, where the hills roll on down to the Minnesota River Valley, it's pretty easy to get a little too much speed up.
So that's where the MHP likes to sit.
I was doing about 77 in a 65.
I saw him hit his flashers and do a Uturn and come up behind me.
Of course I pulled over.
So the cop comes up and I have my DL out and hand it to him.
He asks do I have my insurance card.
I told him no. "I don't have one."
He asks, " Do you have insurance?"
I said, "Yeah, I've got too much to lose to go without it.
He says, "Do you know how fast you were going?"
Now I know the correct answer to that question is to say No.
But I fessed up and said, "I thought I had it under 75."
He says "Yeah, I clocked you at 75."
Then he says "Ok I'm going to go back and check you out so you just sit tight.
"Ok"
So he comes back in a few minutes and says, "Ok I'm just going to give you a warning on the speed, Ok?
I said "Sure."
Then he says " But this ticket is because you don't have your insurance card on you."
I said "Ok."
He says "If you send in your proof of insurance within 30 days the ticket will be dropped. Ok?"
I just said "Ok."
And he says, "And Keep your speed down through here. I usually don't give people warnings. Got that?"
"Ok officer."
Then I said, "Say you don't happen to have the winning numbers for the Powerball on you do you?"
He looked at me kind of funny and says "What?"
I said "Well, It looks like it's my lucky day cause I just got out of a speeding ticket.
So I thought I'd see if my luck would hold and buy a powerball"
He gave me a genuine laugh and said "Well, no I don't have them and if I did I wouldn't be here."
And we both laughed.
Then went our separate ways...
