: Can someone tell me whats wrong with this JD "A"? It spits and sputters, seems at times to be running on one cylinder and doesn't seem to have any power(most of the time). Yet if you ground one plug out at a time it doesn't miss a beat. I can't think of anything in the magneto that should affect spark that way unless the engine speed with one cylinder firing is that much slower and its an advance problem. E.g. too much advance for the speed because the weight springs aren't hooked up (such as the hooks rusted off). The carburetor has separate venturies for each cylinder to keep down interaction, though I hear there is a common adjustment. Would make me think there could be a problem with a leaking intake valve causing too much exhaust getting back to upset flow through the other side of the carburetor. I'm not a 2 cylinder expert so I'm guessing. Gerald
