Bob, I have a CASE 420B T/L/B. It is somewhat rare because from 1956 using the 320 industrial through the 420B in 1960 were the start-up years. The 530's are more popular and of course the 580's were more so. This era of tractors seems to be a dark time in the history of CASE. I have found very few salvage tractors of the numbered models whereas I've found many of the lettered models and the associated aftermarket suppliers. If there is anything seriously wrong, you may want to reconsider the purchase. Mine had been cannabalized of the hood, brakes and brake linkages, power steering and carburetor. I looked far and wide for replacement parts. A used power steering pump is $450. The hood if it can be found is $400 - $500. My engine was seized. I was able to break it loose and rebuild it. Rings, gasket set, rod bearings, and 5 valves were almost $300 from CASE. The radiator is shot. I'm trying to get another season with patches and stop leak. A replacement radiator is $550 with an oil cooler in the bottom tank for the Case-O-Matic. My Case-O-Matic is also suspect now. If I have to replace it, I will go with a conventional clutch disk and replace the middle housing on the tractor. Just consider the cost and whether it will need some major repairs. They are not easy to find parts for like a Ford or Massey Ferguson. By the way, where are you located? Ken McWilliams Dayton, OH : : I'm looking at a Case420b tractor with front loader to buy but I can't find any info on this particular model. Any help would be appreciated. : The info I have says the 420B was made 1958-60, has a 148cid diesel engine with 39 PTO HP, it weighs 3,560lbs and only came in the Industrial. Dennis H.
