Loren that is a Case IH 4520 Flex Air fertilizer spreader. Pneumatically applies the fertilizer. You use it more like a sprayer than a fertilizer spreader. Supposedly it spreads the various weight fertilizer evenly. Example: Urea weights 50 LBS per cubic foot while Potash weight 72 lbs. per cubic foot. So you want to apply 200 lobs of each per acre and have it mixed together. When a spinner spreader throws the fertilizer the potash goes further than the urea. So you have a banding of the nutrients. It will show up as streaks in the crop. They are also good at interseeding cover crops with your fall fertilizer.
They are not a simple machine and are working is a very corrosive environment. They need the hydraulic hoses totally replace every few eyars as the fertilizer will eat through the hoses. The wires will be rusted inside a good looking hose. We just put on $10,000 worth of hoses on this machine.
