: Hi There .I am about to embark on a restoration of my grandfathers first tractor,a 1927 model D and : would like to have a reccomendation for a good book to answer most of the hundreds of questions I will : have.I am starting out with an engine that has seized over time.Any suggestions for a first time restorer : would be appreciated. Dwayne, I'm no expert but I restored a 1927 D back about 6 years ago. It was seized up too. I started by pouring as much Diesel fuel as I could into the petcocks and let them sit for a week or so to help loosen the rust in the cylinders. After that I took off the head and stuffed a sawed off pole in the cylinder and started whackin' it with a very large hammer. It eventually came loose. This sounds pretty crude but it worked for me.
