Helped Jeff replace an beater in his Ubler feed cart yesterday morning. He had a bad bearing and when he replaced it, apparently the bearing had been bad for a while because the beater shaft was worn half in two. He only had one load to go, so instead of welding up the shaft he put the bearing on anyway to finish feeding. He was a half link short for chain, but forced it on anyway to finish that last lad. Of curse the shaft broke.
He said, "Ya know, you don't mind buying the new shaft so much as the fact that you know better than to cobb it together that way, but you get away with it just often enough that you do it anyway. You know better, but you do it anyway". BTDT. Lol!
