If you take out the clutch, take it to a place that sells/service clutch and brake parts. Years ago we went through a few clutches on our Cockshutt SP combines because that metal plate flexed and broke; the clutch was just a hub in a flat metal disk with clutch facings. Cockshutt didn't have that clutch when I needed it so I went to a clutch & brake place. Parts man took one look at it and said: "Looks like 10" Ford truck clutch". It was an exact match, except the Ford clutch had the spring loaded shock link instead of the flat metal plate. We put Ford Clutches in both combines and never had clutch problems after that.
My brother had a Versatile 800. Someone told him that a good mechanic could change a clutch in the 800 in less than half a day. Our nephew has the 800 now; likes it way better than the JD that he used to have.
