: I know this subjects been covered before, but I must not have been sober then, cause cant remember what was said.. Restoring an Allis WC & discovered that I got some GAS TANK GOOP. (not too much) can anyone reccomend a MAGIC POTION that I can put in the tank and clean it out? Help is greatly appreciated..

What Ive done in these not so uncommon cases is remove the fuel, remove the tank, and with the shutoff valve off put a 50/50 solution of berrymans carb cleaner and gas and let it set for a couple days. Then I dump the solution out into a container and flush out the tank several times with the same fresh mixture.I save the "sludgey" solution for starting brush burning activities on other days. If there are stuck particles in the tank then I put a pressure washer in it and then flush it out with alchohol. The reason I like to mix carb cleaner with gas is that the carb cleaner seems to go further as opposed to using it straight. Hope this helps.
