When I replace one I write the mileage on the filter box so I don't have to check it every time I service it. Under normal conditions they should be changed every 30K.
Another pet peeve of mine is why don't they put the oil fill spec on the engine somewhere :twisted: Its left up to me I paint it near the oil fill cap...
I go thru a paint marker about every month if I have worked on you car for a few years the history of what I have done to it is wrote out somewhere if not every where under the hood.
I leave my mark every were even in places you will never see. If someone claims I did the work I can tell by how the parts are marked.
