Your old JD 530 rd baler had a carrier brg between baler gearbox & tractor pto shaft that newer JD rd balers don't have as telescoping shaft goes all the way from baler gearbox to tractor pto. I think the reason JD engineers changed design is because customers didn't like to or wouldn't install the drawbar extension(equal angle hitch) before attaching.
IMHO I liked the equal angle setup better than the heavy,awkward to handle CV driveline that BTW is only designed to turn 80° not 90° such as the "equal angle hitch" AND u-joints on EA driveshaft are much cheaper to replace if needed.
Equal angle hitch got it's name from the fact that with the drawbar extension in place with drawbar at correct length(14'' from end of tractor pto shaft to center of hole in drawbar for 540 rpm) both u-joints on telescoping shafts have identical angles while in a turn which eliminates driveline vibration while turning corners.
