Let me share what my experiences have been with a 3 point hitch. All of our 3 point equipment is cat 1 type. For years, we used a Ford 3000 with it and never gave a thought to NOT wanting a 3 point hitch. Fast forward to a few years ago and I bought a JD with a cat 2 - 3 point hitch. Works great with the sleeves over the cat 1 lift points and in the top link, however, it ain't the same. The other tractor we have is a Massey Ferguson 50. It has a cat 1 hitch and after using the JD and cat 2 vs the MF - coupled with my getting older body, I'm leaning towards moving away from all 3 pt equipment for the JD and using pull behind, even down to a bush hog. Back up to a implement clevis, drop a pin to hitch it, hook up a remote to lift and lower if required and go. No wrestling match, simple, fast and easy.
So IMHO - if you are buying an older tractor that was originally 3 pt, i.e. the Ford 3000 or MF50, then it's fine. Get into mixing cat 1 and 2 hitches/equipment and it becomes a pain.
The only reason I can see to go with a fast hitch or snap coupler hitch is - if you happen to have the equipment that can work with it - because it is pretty much a back into the implement and you're practically ready to go from the driver's seat or own these old style hitches as a hobby interest.
