Spent most of the day at the annual (27th!) spring consignment auction in Bremen, OH. Perfect cloudless day. Only got a cyclone spreader and a laser level. Here's the tractors pretty much in sale order. All started and ran unless noted otherwise.

Pics at http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photopanel.cgi?listingid=2610282&category=0&zip=43130&kwd=Foltz

2005 NH TT75 $11,700 nice!

Farmall 400, recent resto, nice shiny paint, ran well $2,500

Oliver 1600 narrow front $2,000

Cat D5 dozer, needed some steering clutch work $5,700

JD 4630 4WD, cab, duels bid $9,600 no sale

MF 165 diesel $2,200

JD 4440 2WD, cab, bid $11,200 no sale

Ford 9700 cab, bid $5,200 something, no sale, wanted $7,000 min. to sell it

JD B, older resto, $2,000

JD 2640, new rear tires, 2 remotes, nice shape, ran well $8,750

AC 6140 w/loader, 4WD, new clutch and starter $4,900

Kubota B6100 $2,100

2006 Montana 3040, 4WD, very nice condition, 520 hrs. $6,000

Oliver 66, new rear tires $1,800

Ford 800, didn't run but said to have engine knock $750

Cub Lo-Boy 185, didn't run, belly mower $450

International 284, didn't run, belly mower, some tin damage, $575

Kubota, thought to be a 300 series (?), 4WD, no hood, didn't run, otherwise in nice shape, good tires $1,100

Ferguson TO-20 or 30 (?) starter busted, scraps of it in bell housing so they didn't run it. $1,000

'40 9N, one smooth hub, one riveted, didn't run $475

Oliver 77, had it's work close on $1,300

AC 5050 w/ sun shade, 1 owner $3,800

JD 60 $2,250

Satoh S-550G gas, 6' rear blade (looked to be way to big for this thing) $1,950

Kubota L245DT w/loader, rebuilt front drive, new rear rims $3,600

JD 2020 gas, thought to need head gasket, water in the oil, it ran $2,500

Kubota B7500 w/belly mower, pretty nice shape $4,000

Ford 9N, four new tires, 12V, electronic ignition, spin out rims $1500

Ford 2000LCG (industrial) with Sherman $1,950

Kubota B7200 w/ 4' rear blade and a 4' Bush Hog brand rotary brush mower $3,400 (probably the buy of the day).

I got the brand new spreader for $525.

I helped the young fellow that bought the running 9N. He just bought some land and needed a cheap mower tractor. He knew nothing about it, didn't know you had to turn the key "on" to get it to start (he thought if the starter turned the motor it was on). Told him the starter circuit and ignition were two separate things. I explained how the PTO and 3 pt. worked too. My first tractor as an adult was a 9N and I know it's a bit scary if you've never owned a tractor before. I told his dad he barely paid for the tires on it, the rest was free.

Tons of other equipment sold, I left around 5:00 and they were still going strong.

Today's Featured Article - The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and ... [Read Article]
