Frontier is John Deere's cheaper brand, but I don't know if JD has a Frontier disc mower or not. The better JD mowers were mad by Kuhn the last time I noticed. Kuhn makes good stuff. Their disc mowers are gear drive in which the gears in the cutterbar run in oil/
I have a Vermeer. It is well built and cuts good but cuts better if the rpms are kept up fairly high. It is a shaft drive mower which has a gear driven shaft which turns the individual cutter heads which are packed in grease and also have some sealed bearings. That design is also easy to pull.
The MF is also a shaft drive mower which I have had no dealings with, but looks like a good, simple design.
If you buy a used disc mower, see it demonstrated on a tractor first.
