: : : : : : : : Can anyone who has owned or operated 2 cylinder models and the new generation models (after 1960) give me a perspective on the merits of each. Some claim that the 2 cylinder models were just made better, more reliable, etc. I ask becuase I don't have much experience on either and own a Model 1010 but love the looks of the Model 50 and 420 series. Thanks for your input. : : : The 50 is a real tractor the 1010 is a toy. : : Compared to a 4020, the 50 is a toy. The 4020 has real working hydraulics (2500 psi), twice the horsepower, twice the gears for matching loads better, better ground clearance, full three point, differential lock, power steering, power brakes (in oil), much smoother engine, no external moving parts, dual speed PTO, and enough weight to put that horsepower to work. : The gentleman wanted a small tractor not a dinosaur. folks. We have to get a life again. Everybody else got away from two cylinder in the 1920's. Rumley, oliver and any other company building tractors. JD just caught up in the 1960's.
