My first attempt would be to locate a used one. Have you tried local salvage yards. Around here I would guess I could get one for $100 or so (Pennsylvania). There are a couple of ways to repair the old one. One method (which I believe you have checked into) is to fill the hole with weld (nickle rod) and remachine, the other way would be to simply weld the old pin to the housing. (There are special rods made to weld steel to cast iron. You need an experienced welder with cast iron to get a good repair. This is a very high stress area so epoxies are not going to work. Regards, EEA I've just purchased a 1951 Ford 8N and am replacing oil seals, brakes etc. The problem I have is that the : hole for the link pin (that attaches to the lower lever of the lift) has been rounded out (ovaled to be exact) : because of a loose link pin. Is there an easy way to resolve this problem. If I : put the link pin back in the hole will become even more out of : round and more oil will leak out. I fear that with a load on the lower lift arm, the : Axel houseing might even break. One estimate to have : a machine shop repair it would be close to $200. The hole : is tapered to accomodate the link pin. How much does a : new axel housing run?? IS there an epoxy filler that would : work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
