A lawn tractor is good for learning to drive. Then when he is mature enough, let him cut some grass and learn other chores. Yes, chickens are usually great for kids. I was so proud of one of my grandsons when he was about 4. We went to pick up the eggs, and one of the hens was brooding and would peck at you to protect her eggs. I showed him how far she could reach, and he carefully picked up the eggs in the next nest, keeping his hand just inside the safe zone. Life lessons and quality time makes a grampa grin! Good luck!
