Putting the MH44 EFI back together

As the story goes on.

Last fall the wiring harness got tangled in the driveshaft and yanked it loose and wrapped it up. I decided to put it down for the winter and correct some issues. The starter was self destructing, the engine had a small leak at the rear of the pan gasket, one of the weights came loose on the governor, the smoke puff on startup bugged me, the ARP head studs still leaked and the wiring harness needed replaced. I pulled the engine out of the tractor and commenced on these issues.

I had Perfect Circle valve seals put on the head, no one had the cutters, so have a set now.

I pulled all the studs, cleaned them and holes up, put them back in with Indian Head sealer, so we will see on that.

The governor had a weight come loose, I had a spare governor ring, so swapped that out

I cleaned the pan and rear main cap up real good and replaced pan gasket.

I had holes drilled all over the manifold for things that got changed during the EFI development, got a new one and only put the holes in that were needed.

I changed the power steering from a priority valve to a pump, bracket is out to get some wire welding done, then change hoses.

I have all the hydraulic lines off right now, made a delete plate for the pump, plan to upgrade that later this winter.

I have new 12V gear reduction starter ordered.

The throttle rods had a lot of wear on them where they went through pivots, they are out for welding.

I got a replacement wire harness for the computer and almost have that rewired.


I wanted to get done over break, but did not quite make it, and am on the road most of the next 3 weeks, so it will probably be February before I get it running again.
