At some point in my illustrious and imaginative youth, I somehow fancied a miniature game of darts. I figured that the cut off ends of shoe laces, one end fuzzed out a bit, and say a garment needle, with the little ball on the end if I recall..... that and the barrel of a bic pen... makes a nice blow dart.
Now the interesting part... a life long arch nemesis,(we fought as kids until graduation) while in biology class, seated in the next row of work tables behind me, the weasel that he was, got the case with the above items in it from my school bag. He then put it to effective use by sticking several of the other students in the back, one of which was not happy and likely would have made him regret what he did, was about to, but by then the teacher knew something was up. This annoying little fly made sure to try and have me take the rap for it too, but the friend he stuck with one, made sure to point him out.
This clown tested me one more time when we were seniors, but he paid up what was due and then some as I never forgot taking the heat until they figured it out, I was facing suspension. The teacher said after looking the said items over, then stating my last name, "these are lethal weapons"! Ironically enough, this teacher I did give much credibility too, he was a crackpot, just one strange individual to say the least.
Ironic thing was I still graduated with honors, my old "needling" pal there was not allowed to attend the ceremony, seems he and another friend of mine had gotten into it and both were disallowed to graduate on stage. We were a rowdy bunch at times, thinking back I just thought those silly things above were cool, they worked perfectly and were accurate, just never thought to ever use them on people, for him it made perfect sense at the time, and he'd do it until someone tried to pound him back.

Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
