Cause:
More than likely the crankshaft is a cast one and dispite South Korea's progress some suppliers or sources might be behind in tech. The crank probably had some inclusions in it. If it wasn't inclusions or a slag pocket it might be improper heat treatment all other causes excluded. Give me a forged crankshaft any day. unfortunately too many crankshafts here are cast.
