Memorable and I'll bet a lot of fun to spend some time with them ! I remember seeing Al Lewis in his restaurant on Bleecker Street in the village, (Manhattan) quite the host, and always visible, he'd be outside sometimes, real character he was. You did not feel imposing approaching him or speaking with him at all.

I used to see a lot of actors in Manhattan during my career there, lots of filming going on sometimes. Other times, just a hap chance you run into one, happened a lot more than I ever thought, in places I would never suspect. I waited on the subway platform with a lady that was on Mad TV and later other television shows. President Bush was in town and the surface was a real mess because of it, gridlock etc. I headed for the subway, off to a meeting downtown. I liked the show she was in, it was really funny the bits they did. I told her that and there was a little conversation and that was it, when we got off at the same stop. Never thought actors took the subway. Must have been due to the chaos above, taxi cabs were stuck in traffic. Chevy chase was milling about the west village one day at lunch time and I had been working for a number of years next to Washington Square Park. Around the corner of W 3rd on LaGuardia place was a great little Italian restaurant that was reasonable for lunch and I could get a healthy meal there, it was a regular stop. He stopped in for a cappucino. The restaurant owner was sitting with a vendor, going over bills and or the weekly orders. He never even got up, but he knew who it was and said to his employee who did not speak english well, "make sure to take care of this guy!" Chevy wanted him to make sure he got sweet & low with the cappucino. I cheated that day and had ordered a couple of slices of their great pizza, instead of "insalata" and when I received them, I turned around and was bumping elbows with Chevy at the condiment counter. I never said a word, just thought he'd appreciate being left alone and I am sure he did. He was outside later, looking at the new buildings we were constructing for NYU, my alma mater. Seen many more after that at different times, and the biggest thing for me was just that hap chance of seeing someone that was famous from movies, television or entertainment, not so much who they were, as they are no different than you or I.

Today's Featured Article - Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a ...
