I am curious how this independent PTO works. I thought that I needed to keep the engine speed at 1800 rpm to have the PTO spin at 540 rpm. That seems to be what the decals indicate on the tractor. I am reading the repair manual and it says "reduction gearing in front end of transmission housing provides a constant running pto clutch input shaft speed of 540 rpm."
Is the PTO connected directly to the transmission or is there a hydraulic pump inside that drives the PTO?
Tractor is a Ford 4600 SU. I am going to look for the source of a fluid leak around the PTO. I think I buggered a seal somewhere being rough with the brush mower.
