The original belly pump hydraulic system was separate from the transmission.
Dumb question: If the previous owner went out of his way to point out something different, could more modern updates have been added to the tractor?
1. A live hydraulic pump was added (ahead of the distributor?) and the transmission is now used as the hydraulic sump. or 2. For convenience, the gear oil in the transmission and the oil in the hydraulic system were both replaced with modern HyTran (Hydraulic/Transmission) fluid, commonly used in newer tractors.
