It is possible your diagnosis is correct, but it would mean that the engine is heating up enough to seize, and then becoming ok after sitting. Not likely. Check an easier thing to fix. If you aren't getting enough gas from the tank to the carb, it would act like this. When it sits, gas drains and fills the float. When you run it, the gas can't keep up and it stalls. Essentially it would be out of gas, yet the site glass would be full and there would be (just) a little gas in the tank. Check it before going into the engine.
