JD,
This is one fellow who is not going to give you any flack,we have been living on our acreage on county forest for years, we have had all kind of wildlife visit us form time to time. Our obligation is to keep them fed and not subject to killing by us or any other animal.
For years now, we have been visited by a number of black bear eating from our squirrel feeders dancing on the rail of our deck. One gave my wife a kiss thru the screen on the window. In my opinion, they're just hungry so we feed them our refrigerated leftovers in a 5 gallon bucket taken back into the woods. We bought dog food by the 50# bag mixed with bacon grease, old bread, old cereal, made pancakes for em with syrup, mother cooked up 5 gal of blackberries with loads of sugar for them, just so they would have something to survive, and by taking it out in the woods relieves them from being harassed by other non caring humans (neighbors) having the animals tranquilized, shot at, or harassed by dogs not on leashes (leash law here).
I always thought if they (bear hunters) were such a great hunter, leave the dogs at home, and take a hunting knife out and go hunt the bears on their own turf (whats left). Man has pushed all animals to extinction for greed for land and no regards to their existence, dam shame, this still goes on. Hunting for food is another acceptable way for keeping checks and balances, although there are those who will poach or complain about domesticated animals being harmed by the wild life.
We came upon a pickup truck, with a bunch of dogs in the road, and a idiot had his foot on a coyote, while the dogs were tearing it apart alive. That is no hunter,or even a human being. My Son saved a coyote being pushed to an ice flow by dogs, son took the 22 magnum, ran to the creek, fired 3-4 rounds between the feet of the dogs, told me the dogs had a surprised look on the dogs face, while coyote went the other way. Thats the way it should be, protect wildlife,as we as humans have stolen enough from them. JMHO.
LOU

Today's Featured Article - The Rescue of a Fordson F - by Anthony West. Introduction I live in the UK and have for many years restored Fordson tractors (in the main model N's). I have also restored and shown model F's, E 27N's, Field Marshall Series 2, David Brown Cropmasters and the old rey Fergeson T 20. At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p ... [Read Article]
