Sis called me the other nite- her son's mother in law was staying at son's place, right next to sis's, and one of Sis's cows was having a calf right next to the fence. Its a 10 year old cow, calf every year, never a problem. MIL called 5 or 6 times, with a blow by blow-
"Something's coming out of her back end- looks like a membrane of some kind- is that normal?" "Yep, its all fine- just let nature take its course."
"Should I go help her?" "Uhhh- just what would you do to help?"
"It came out, but its all gooky- will it catch cold?" "No, it'll be fine." (Temperature was in the 50's at the time)
"She's licking it- should she be doing that?" "Yes, that's what she's supposed to do."
"Now, the other cows are coming around- are they going to kill the calf?" "No, they're all friends- others are just coming to congratulate the new mother."
