: : You could try a grinder with a soft wire wheel in it. : The grinder/wire wheel works fairly well, but try using oven cleaner. I used Easy-Off Non-Fuming Cold Oven Lemon Scented Foaming oven cleaner (which was what my wife had around, the are probably lots of choices but I know this stuff works). Spray it on pretty heavily and let it soak overnight, then rinse off with water. If there is any left after that, spray again, let it soak for an hour or so, then use a wire brush to loosen it up. I was astonished how well this worked. Do remember that when you're all done you'll probably have bare metal that just had water on it, prime or coat with something soon. And be warned, this stuff will lift paint. I have tried the fume free easy off and was very dissapointed. but it was the olny thing the first store had.It is made to use with an oven that is warm.I went to another store and got the good old fashioned cold oven extra strength easy off this worked much better for me. Wear protective clothing and eye protection-it burns on your skin!!
