Planning the NFMS trip for 2015

I am getting ready to start planning the trip to the national farm machinery show.

I am thinking that for this year, my dad can't walk the show anymore, but he doesn't have a handicap sticker and can't have a scooter. I am thinking that I and a buddy can leave on Tuesday afternoon and drive to Florence(y'all) KY and stay there overnight, to drive from there, to the show in the morning. It seems to be an hour and a half away. I am thinking that once I am down there, I can pick up my mother and father from the Louisville airport and drive them to the show for at least one day. We can have more time to walk around, if we don't have to worry about him having to ride back in a car.

I can then return to the show and get to see some tractor pull action, and see more of the show. I am thinking of flying my dad down on Thursday, so I have a day to scope out what he would want to see, so we can go straight there. Hopefully, he can fly straight back that same day.

So how is the Hotel situation in Florence(y'all) Ky on the week of the show? I will have to check with the flight schedule from Pittsburgh to Louisville, but I think it should be ok. I just don't know how else to handle this.

Last year, I had to turn back halfway to KY for a funeral for a heroine overdose. Just last week, I am still upset over 2 23 year old girls who both killed themselves within 2 days of each other. Neither funeral ended up at my cemetery, but, in the same time, 2 other funerals happened. I can get someone to fill in for me and my dad, if I start planning now. Let's hope that it works this time. Last year was a bad thing... Drove home in a major ice and snow storm and the 5 hour drive took 13 hours.

I just want to have one more year with my dad at this show. I'd like to plan now, but I am not sure if I can get a good hotel in time, and be close enough.

Anyone attend the show? Where do you stay? How do you plan for your time there?
