: I have recently redone a 1937 JD AR tractor and am : now in the mood to repaint. The only problem is that : 60 years of grease and dirt has compacted over all : of the tractor. I've tried Wal-Mart degreaser : and powerwashing, which is working but so slowly. I : Still have to scrape it or wash it with gasoline. : I'm tired of scraping so If anybody knows any : better ways of removing old grease and grime, give : me a holler. Thanks. Go for a rental power washer, as Joe suggested, it is the only way to get enough of the old grease out. However, you will probably have some residual grease in areas even the washer won't reach. I found that a small pointed masonry trowel is very good for getting into crevices. It has a variety of edge shapes which conform to a lot of the casting shapes. CAUTION: D_O_ N_O_T_ use gasoline. Beside the potential fire hazard, it is very toxic and can cause severe chemical burns on your skin. Good luck.
