I am pretty sure that tractor has a closed center system like the 1755-1955 does. IF your three point line is getting hot then you have a high pressure internal leak in that part of the system.
I would start with filters but would check out the three point controls too.
Does working the three point change the sound??
There is an adjustment for the draft sensitivity on the outside rear of the tractor. right side right above the lift link. (If I remember correctly LOL) That can be set wrong to where the system still is trying to lift even with the arms all the way up. I had a Oliver 1755 that would do that. If you where plowing you would have to adjust the response for the draft to work. Then when you quit doing heavy three point work you had to re-adjust it so it would quit lifting when up all the way. I actually broke the three point lift housing with it set wrong. The piston cracked the back out where the top link mounts.
Go down on the Oliver board. Those guys can tell you better. It has been 25 years since I owned that tractor.
