The dipstick in the round cover below the seat is for the transmission/hydraulics/differential. All area connected, sharing the same oil. Lots of opinions what oil to use. Originally 90 weight mineral oil was recommended. That works fine in warm weather, but when it's cold the hydraulics go into slow motion. Most people prefer to use 15w40 motor oil, or universal tractor oil.
The oil does go into the large plug beside the shifter. You'll want to add oil slowly, the passages are small between the transmission and the hydraulic sump. Adding too much too fast may dump oil out the front seal into the clutch.
But, before adding oil, might want to pull the drain plugs and see if there is water in the case. Most likely there will be, especially if it's stored outside. It gets in around the shifter boots and condensation. Now might be a good time to change it, it holds about 8 gallons.
