My straight truck is a 58 GMC 370 - the same truck with a few different options. I have the 270 inline 6 in mine. It has more than enough power. Just be ready to do it slowly - they redline at about 50 mph.
I use mine as a backup to the semis and haul feed and bales with it. Last year it was called into wheat duty and ran 7 loads a day to town and never barked once. I found a guy that had used tires for it and put those on the rear. I probably won't put another set on it in my lifetime. The tire shop in town wasn't scared to do them and changed them wih a full load of wheat on it! I don't worry too much about those wheels. When airing them up I usually clamp on the air chuck and stand back in case. That's probably good policy with lots of tires around here.
It probably still has the vacuum two speed shift. I believe that there's a kit to switch it over to electric. Those parts are getting kind of scarce I think. I order all of my parts from Jim Carter trucks in KC Missouri. They really know their stuff.
I'm impressed that the bottoms of the front fenders aren't rotted out. Pretty or not, it is in good shape. If you decide to paint it pretty you won't have much prep to do. It took an act of congress to dent the old suckers.
