I know you got it, but for general info, one free tool I didn't see mentioned is this. Some basic photo editing too. You can do one or highlight multiple at a time. Select them, click on export, select the save location, size, quality, then click export and it's done. And if you have a gmail account it can back them up to a private album online (or share if you want). You don't need a gmail account to use it, and uncheck the option to send usage statistics when you install it.

On the Linux side I use DigiKam. Picasa works too, but it takes some steps to install it.

Flip phones/phones in general I see mentioned, cable works fine. But depending on the phone, you can get a little bluetooth adapter for the computer, less than $5 sometimes. Then you can connect your phone wirelessly. Doesn't always work, like I said, depends, but thought I'd mention it.
