Can you see all the holes for the button in the adjuster plate? I think what has happened is that the button is pushed in and stuck or has came off, allowing the adjuster plate to turn freely. Try turning the adjuster plate clockwise. You might get lucky and the button may pop back out into one of the holes in the adjuster plate. Might want to try removing the access covers on both sides and the bell housing drain plug and clean things with diesel fuel. If you can't get the button to hold the plate in postion, you are probably going to have to remove the clutch.
