Years ago on a farm I use to rent I had a similar problem with people pulling off the road and driving into a field to get to there party spot. I talked it over with the owner and he agreed with my idea. I had posted signs and put a gate up with a chain and pad lock on it. That weekend they just drove over the gate with there 4x4 trucks and made a mess in the field as well. Called the law they came out did there thing and said there was not much they could do about it, BULL CRAP!
This is ware my idea came in. 8 feet behind the gate was an old 3ft 30ft long colvert pipe that was getting bad. I put up 2 new 12' gates up with new No Trespassing signs up with one in the middle "DANGER" "OPEN TRENCH" KEEP OUT! Next came the back hoe and I dug the pipe out putting the dirt behind the gate in a nice pile. Well Friday night the farm owner called me and told me to come over, And I did. Cops were there as well as 2 tow truck and the life squad and a raft of parents all pissed off. I told the cops that I was going to press charges aginst the 2 drivers of the trucks that drove over the gates and over the dirt piles that ended up nose first in a 4 foot ditch. Cops wanted to know why I dug the pipe out? Simple I didn't want to get sued by a trespasser if the pipe collapsed while they were crossing it, So I am going to replace it. Well I figured if I put up new gates and pad locked them up good with the new signs and a 4'x8' DANGER OPEN TRENCH KEEP OUT Sign up in the middle and the dirt piled up behind the gates no one would be dumb enough to come in here. What more could I do? I asked them. Not a thing said the Captain in charge. 10 boys got arrested and had to pay for the damages they caused to me and to the land owner. Oh I never did put the colvert back in and there party spot quickly grew over in rose brushes I planted. I never had any more problem with trespassers after that.
