What happens if you push "Cycle" then "Enter"? It should tie when you do that no matter how much or how little hay you have in it. I think it has to be on "Auto" to do it though.
Unless every sensor on that thing does exactly what it's supposed to do,in the proper order,it won't put the twine on by just going through the normal "Auto" cycle though. I'm pretty sure that bar on the side doesn't have anything to do with triggering the twine arm. The computer just has to know that the bale size sensor has passed by enough teeth on that sprocket to reach the size bale you've selected on the monitor. That's what lets you select the size by just pushing the buttons on the monitor and not having to adjust anything manually on the baler.
I ran in to a problem with mine today. I got that eight and a half acres rolled up that I had down,but the endgate started popping open enough for the arrow on the monitor to disappear and it shows the gate is open. If I keep bumping the lever until the graph starts to show something,then the latches will hold it alright. A neighbor bought a new 1400 when they came out and that one started doing that. One of the endgate cylinders was blown on the inside and was leaking by letting the other cylinder loosen up too. I've got another pair here on another baler that I know are good. I just wish I knew for sure which one was bad.
