I'm putting the final kibosh on a bathroom I built in a basement. Did most of the painting today. So I had the carpet around the outside of bathroom tarped off and was priming the outside walls. Somehow... I bumped the paint can over and spilled about 3/4 gallon of primer. Of course it ran off the plastic tarp and about a quart ran onto the carpet before I could stop it. Aarrghhh!! I got right after it - scooped up what I could back into the paint can then wadded up the plastic tarp and stuffed it into a plastic bag. Primer all over my shoes, the carpet, my hands. I hit the laundry sink and got my hands and boots cleaned off then filled a 5 gallon pail with hot water. Took a sponge and started saturating the carpet with water, then used my shop vac to suck it up. About 20 gallons of water later I had it clean. I need not tell you I was moving Fast! They told me when I started the job they were going to replace the carpet soon but not immediately. I kept thinking about what the heck I was gonna tell them as I cleaned it up. And wondering how much $ I was going to have to knock off the job for messing up. It looked very good when I left. Carpet was damp but that's all. I'm sure they wont even notice it. Whew!
