Billy NY, Swell hearing from you, we to use mulch and compost. Neighbor has a horse farm with tons of manure that he lets us have. Son takes the 706 over and I drive the 1 ton truck with a dump box. We have a 2 shredders one on a lawn vacuum, the other is a small stand up. We shred a lot of leaves and layer in horse manure on top of each leaf bed. It sets all winter from August on til next spring when its spread on the garden and worked under. We use additional commercial fertilizer 10-10-10 plus others with ammonium sulfate. A different commercial fertilizer for the spuds.
This year only watered once, rain did the rest.We staggered our corn when planting by about two weeks apart. Now that means I have to get my new choppers in and working,as I dearly love my tomatoes and fresh corn. My mouth is barely healing, due to the diabetes, but I'm gaining on it,other than that I'm looking forward to harvest. Sounds like your under some pressure with job search and helping others, you just have to watch you don't over extend yourself. It's nice to help people isn't it? We do when we can. Truly hope your gardens makes out so you can enjoy the fresh veggies. With warmest regards, LOU
