Hi Guys,
I need some opinions on what fluid to use for weight in my WD-45 rears. I put RimGuard in 9 years ago when I restored the tractor. I didn"t want to have any problem with rust on the rims I had to rebuild. After 8 years, I"ve had to replace the tubes on 3 of the 4 tires. Messy problems - the RimGuard seems to dissolve the rubber at the valve stems and the tubes start leaking.
I"ve heard that anti-freeze is available, but that it softens the rubber of the tube, so I"d have the same problem. I"ve heard that windshield washer fluid works - but does it affect the tubes long-term? Calcium chloride is readily available and inexpensive, but I really don"t want to deal with rusted out rims again. Any other thoughts?
