: I have a S model Case tractor. When I bought it I was told it was a 1947. When I had to find valves for it the dealer said it was a 1953. The dealer also told me the S model was only made in 1953-54. After reading the Case History home page today I'm REALLY confused! They say that the S model was introduced in 1940! My case has no hydraulics and the Case home page said that it was added on later S models, which I believe became SC models. Can anyone set me straight? : P.S. I could use a hand crank if anyone's got one for sale. : : markh@xtalwind.net In 1938,Case switched to a seven-digit serial number. For Most tractors built through 1953 models years, the can be determined by a similiar two step method. In the first step, the firstand second digit are combined. For example for the serial number 4906687,combine 4 and 9 to create 49. In the second step , subtract 4 from the number created in step one.Which 49 minus 4 equals 45.My records show that 8,390 "S" serial Case was built from 1941 to 1952.1953 and 1954 no "S" serial was produces, I hope his helps.I have a 1952 SC with a eagle hitch and wide front end completely restored and I have 1954 SC with a foot clutch I need to restore this one.I"m looking for a "S" to restore.
