Yes but I'm still running a 10 year old Mac at home, bottom of the line Mini. Not the newest OS on it but most everything runs fine on them including XP installed with Virtual PC.
Its connected to the internet 24/7, still can surf anywhere one pleases without virus protection or adware spyware stuff. Has not slowed down over time.
My "brand new" Mac is 5 years old now and I've never bothered to update the OS even though I could. It just works fine, still feels blazing fast even though it was a bottom of the line model too. I'm still on Word 2004 and don't like changing software often.
