Alright, so our plow day has for the most part been planned. It is going to be at our local U of I extension office, RIGHT in the middle of town! Supposed to be about 30 acres, and it is the perfect place for publicity!

Me and dad have been discussing possible tractor/implement combos, and I was kind of wondering what you guys would think of each?

The location is right next to Sand Creek (gee, I wonder why they named it SANDpoint??) and it is supposed to be mostly sandy ish loam. Pretty dry, or so I have been told..

Here are my choices, I want to have a RESTORED tractor pulling my RESTORED Case Plow:

1949 Farmall C, New Engine, NO ballast, + Case plow
OR
1954 JD 40T, Original Engine, Loaded tires, + Case Plow

At my first ever plow day, the Farmall C really struggled to pull someone else's 2 x 14 plow, however after words I discovered that the plow had just hit a stump and was doing "funny stuff" after we got my first plow home (JD 2 x 14) I plowed up a very clay ish part of the meadow that hadn't been touched in years just fine, sooooo??

Then I have my newest tractor, 1952 Super C, and I think I am going to have it plowing with the JD 2 x 14 plow mentioned above.

And then we are also going to disc it, and I am going to take my 1947 JD B and an Oliver 7 ish foot disc, will it pull it okay?

If you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer them, what do you guys think? Bryce

Today's Featured Article - The Day Mom Drove the 8N - by Brian Browning. My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o ... [Read Article]
