Friday, when I went to intercept my buddy along side the highway to pick up my baler, we met an interesting man. We were actually slipping the pin in, and I was getting ready to go, and he pulled over to see what "cool old treasures" we had.
He said that his grandparents homesteaded not too far from where we were. He said that they started in the 1880's with horse drawn stuff, then to tractors in the 30's-80's. Their kids retired, and he never really took the farm over.
He said that HIS parents have passed away, and everything was left to him and a few siblings, he still lives on the farm, and they are all gone. Basically he doesn't have an interest in the farming game, and the siblings won't have a thing to do with him, so he has decided to get rid of everything.
He offered a tour if we would like to go and have a look, because all of the stuff is antique and he wanted someone that was going to actually do something with it rather than scrap it. Well, I had to get home, but Steve decided to go have a look. I figured we would probably be talking about a few implements, and MAYBE a tractor, well was I wrong!
Steve called me today, he said that there is implemets from here to the moon and back! He said that there are 8 tractors, from 30's machines on steel, to a 630 Case. He said that all of the implements were well cared for, he said that all of them were jacked up and on blocks so that the pressure was off of the tires, everything was greased, sickle bars had been removed and stored in the barn to prevent rusting. Nearly everything had a cover on it.....
Steve said that he talked to the guy about prices, and he said:
Well, I think that scrap is a good price, just make an offer.

And a L O T more!!!! So I am going to check this gold mine out tomorrow, Steve thinks that he can buy everything for $10000, and then sell everything back off for a little more than he paid for it, so in the end he gets a few implements for free.
The only catch, we only have a month before the new owner shows up, so it has to be gone buy the first of May... Looks like I need my drivers license.... I'll post a list of goodies tomorrow! Bryce
