Had an email from Rich today. He was indeed banned from the site for rules violation. Our hosts here are pretty generous with us and, for the record, they do let us politely debate politics and other controversial topics. Rich told me what he said and, while it was somewhat said in jest I'm sure, it still read like a threat to the exalted one. Understanding that even to utter such a thing has long been a serious offense in this country, you can look at the perspective of our hosts who are trying to run a business and see that they cannot accept responsibility for having something like that on their forum. It could easily get out of hand and...well...I will let your imagination take it from there. This is my perspective on the matter and not something Rich asked me to convey nor do I have any contact with our hosts (and let's keep it that way, OK?) so take this as you will. Pretty much everything that folks said in the previous post on this matter has some merit. I only question those who feel they need to hide behind fictitious handles when commenting and cannot stand up and voice their opinions with their faces unmasked.
Did he annoy me when I answered a post and he came in after and repeated what I had said? Yes, but when I was ASKING the questions I often appreciated his affirmation of a prior answer...so two sides to the story. Did I always like the way he expressed himself? No, but he offered diversity and a different perspective on issues that I welcomed. This is one of those kind of places, where everyone gets heard. If you want to only hear your side of the issues, their are places for that too. Not a good thing to have yet another long time poster leave. He just needs to change his handle, come back to the fold and...most importantly...READ what he writes before he clicks "Post Message".
