: CAN SOMEONE TELL THE YEAR OF MANUFACTURE OF MY MOD D FROM IT'S SERIAL NO OF 130538 :The manual states: "Each model of the 40 series has its own indivual serial number range, that is, the 40C, 40H, 40S, 40T, 40U, 40V, and 40W each beginning with serial number 60001. Each tractor bears a serial number licated on the left side of the center frame". Your serial number should start with the numbers 6000.... etc.. I'm not sure your looking at the correct numbers; either that or you don't have a model 40. Anyway, go to the local library and look up the serials in a JD book. My model 40C had the number 65453, which makes it a 1954. The letter designator after the number is important because the numbers run in series with each specific model. Hope this helps. Good luck!
