I have a 1995 9230. Three years ago I thought the trans. was going out and they said it would be 15,000 plus labor, but thankfully it just needed the pump shimmed up and now it works perfectly. A good Case mechanic will tell you the powershift on the 9000 series is the weakest point. Two years ago I took it in to CIH for a tune up. They have to remove the intake manifold to ck the injectors . It was in Dec. and the mechanic working on it took a three wk vac. So the manifold just lay on the floor. He came back to work in Jan. put it all together. They went out and drove it to test it and as they wehere idling it ,it went to ponding and raddling. I went in the next day to pay my bill and get my tractor. They said we have good news and bad news. What’s the good news I asked. –everthing I wanted done was done OK. The bad news. A bolt went into no 1 cyld and did a job on it. I thought OH NO more expense. They said we will put a new sleeve and piston in no 1 and it will be ok. Whew! No cost to me. Went back in a couple of days later and in the shop my engine was out and every pc. Lying all over the floor. I said WHAT! They then old me they were going to rebuild the engine . all new sleeves and pistons head reworked . all I had to pay for was a new thurbo. As they said mine had some wear and with the new engine should have it. That was at 3800 hrs. I now have 5000 hrs. and it’s in the shop for another tune up. I am thinking of Selling it as it it in A-1 shape . new tires at 4200hrs so I should get top Dollar. Haven’t decided what price to go with yet.
