Haven't had much respect for Law Enforcement types since my Air Force days, after you deal with the crud the sky cops dish out and put up with their lies you really wonder why we're stupid enough to actually give them live bullets. One of the jobs I had while in the Air Force was MASO/AMMO (Munitions Accountable Supply Officer/Air Munitions Management Officer) so I was responsible for all bombs, bullets, cartridge, propellant and explosives on the Air Base with the exception of the Hilti carts. The SPS (stupid people squadron or Security police squadron your choice) had butted heads with my predecessor several times and lost. Our Squadron Commander had gotten involved in some of these Urinary Olympiads so the SPs were kind of out after him too. Funny part is the more they tried to get to us the worse it became for them. Seems one afternoon one of the LE (Law Enforcement aka meter maids)troops figured he had an opportunity to pick off each officer in our squadron for illegal parking, only problem is we weren't illegally parked, our apparent transgression in parking was a result of the LE desk not following their own Operating Instructions or doing an adequate shift change briefing. The cop complained that we were "threatening" him, after the IG complaint the SP Commander was having a difficult time explaining why his LE flight chief still had Staff Sargent stripes on his sleeves. They really got upset when we got our new missile and the shape of the darn thing was classified above top secret, so when we moved them in or out of the area we had covers on them. We'd roll into the sallyport and the driver would get out of the tug and inform the cop he had to grab the fence, if he let go of the fence the co-driver would shoot him. They liked pulling that stuff on us but didn't much care for it when we were required to do it to them.

And then there was the time during Deseret Shield when the two striper on the gate mouthed off to my Master Sargent, the Marines with us thought that was disrespectful to a senior NCO and decided they should take out the A1C on the spot, naturally the A1C wasn't real keen on that idea and was complaining about us traveling with concealed Marines I ended up setting down with the SP Major on that one.

Civilian law enforcement isn't much better had some dealings with a Tennessee Highway Patrol officer, did you know they're allowed to change things on your ticket AFTER they write it? Little things like your appearance date or even what you're charged with.

My association with the local Sheriff's department convinced me they're nothing but unionized doughnut eating thugs that have real problems dealing with math if any of the numbers are above 10 (unless there is overtime pay involved) and the whole idea of physics and chemistry are beyond their comprehension so it doesn't apply to them

Today's Featured Article - History of the Nuffield Tractor - by Anthony West. The Nuffield tractor story started in early 1945.
