Well, I'm sad to say that a dear friend we have known a long time has been relieved of his suffering of 5 years, it was cycles of internal bleeding, kinda like our tractors you keep fixing and repairing LOL ! He always seemed to hang in there, I'll always admire him, and I thought I'd share a few memories in his tribute, its been really hard on me, but time will help that like it always does, so maybe this will help too and maybe ya'll may send up some smoke signals to the lord in his behalf/his family etc He was a farmers farmer through and through, I'm glad I had the chance to have worked with him, it meant an awful lot to me, not sure why, but I enjoyed working with him every time I did, no other job can give you that or ones that I've had did, I guess everyone has their "thing" in life.
I have a bunch of digital photos, and I think a enough of the grain I saved from this load out of our field being harvested in the photos to put in some jars so I can give that to the family as a keepsake, which I will do once things settle, I could not do this right now, I don't think I could maintain my composure, I'm tough, but this hits you below the belt, its better to wait, I don't want to add to the grieving, but I think it would be appropriate later, what do you think is it a thoughtful thing to do ? These photos are mostly from the harvest at our field, where I delivered the grain to the feed outfit and the 6620 in action, it was a nice stand, a small field, kind of special to me with all the memories, I am glad I stopped to take the time to take these photos, it was August 4 2009 if I recall. 4440 and Kilbros wagon, in another field. I learned how to run that and use the auger, I was careful, so easy to screw things up, you have to pay attention for sure LOL !
The first one is a funny shot, he was just talking on the phone and you know how we all use hand gestures without even realizing it, I captured the moment, onward with the harvest !!! LOL !!!!
The last is photo is Lenny (on the right) and my dad, he farmed our place before we owned it and other land nearby, memories go back to day one for me. The great thing about the photo is that they had not seen each other for years, a real long, time, when I had the chance I had my father stop over one day and it was great to see old friends get to see each other again and it gave me a chance to take a photo. One thing my dad always mentions is climbing the silos to open or close the hatch, I don't think he liked heights, my dad who worked on high rise buildings like I did too, was ok with it, I don't know if I recall this, at some point his oldest must have been able or some one did that, they helped us many times with hay, and I remember riding on the old D7 caterpillar which I still have, to pull a tractor out during spring planting and clearing a long old fence row into a huge pile of locust posts and barbed wire.
