My Farmall A owner's manual suggests you never use the tractor to pull stumps, but points out that the drawbar is below the axle center of the rear wheels, so that in theory, no load would be so heavy as to cause the tractor to flip up over the rear wheels. Attaching a chain above this axle point is asking for instant trouble. I read an original Ford 8N manual that said if you leave the tractor outside in the winter, and the tires freeze to the ground, you should initially start moving the tractor in reverse, so as not to drive the tractor over on top of yourself due to the immobilized wheels - good advice for any tractor of any make.
