A couple of weeks ago a pair of geese came and went. I mentioned them earlier on the site.
Well after the "grab hinie" session they are building a nest under an overturned boat near the pond.
We were wondering what breed they were and surfed the domestic geese pics on the www and only saw one pic with them in it, with a couple of other breeds sonewhere in Australia.
The main body is an irridescent green with white on the outer extremities of the wings. Necks are white and moving up to the head is spotted white and either green or black.
He has a green/black short comb about twice as long as hers. The identifying feature (to me) is the red floppy membrane over the rear of the beak. Looks like a couple of big warts.
His legs/feet are golden and hers brown.
At first, as I reported, I thought they were ugly, but they are very smart critters as geese go.
If you have any idea as to what breed of geese these are I would appreciate your comments.
