Some time back, when I was a volunteer with the local fire department, our Chief was a dyed-in-the-wool, raving, frothing Ford man. Nothing else would do, all of our truck less one were Fords, and he was looking to replace THAT with another Ford.
One of them was a C series cabover pumper. 429 gas and a 750 GPM pump with a 750 gallon tank.
Some of the boys were out doing a little driver training and managed to get the ol' hoss a little too far over on the shoulder and into the soft stuff.
They did have sense enough to quit before they REALLY buried it (or rolled it) but they did NOT want to call a wrecker or have the Chief find out about it, so they called me. (I was Station Captain for Station One at the time)
I fired up my trusty old Chevy K3500 with the 454 and drove out to the scene of the crime. With a chain and in 4WD Low, I was able to ease them back up onto the road.
Being the sort of person that I am, I just HAD to have this picture taken, blown up, and discreetly placed on the Chief's desk.
Oddly, he wasn't nearly as amused by it as everyone else was...
